If you’re looking for some good eats while in Waco, you won’t be disappointed. There’s a little something for everyone, whether you’re in the mood for American cuisine and Texas barbecue, tacos and Tex-Mex, or a coffee and some sweets. I’ve dined at some of the Waco restaurants but am sure to discover more over the years in my continued search for the best food.
Coffee
As a college town, there will be no shortage of coffee spots in Waco. Beyond wanting to know about the best restaurants in town I commonly get asked about where to get a good cup of Joe! However, if you are looking for the best coffee in Waco, these are the places you need to go.
Magnolia Press
If you’re looking for a quaint place to relax and enjoy a good cup of coffee, Magnolia Press is the perfect spot. Waco’s most famous residents, the Gaines family, are the creators of Magnolia Table. Given the fact that they are popular for their home renovations, interior design, and lifestyle design that was showcased on HGTV and many other shows and publications the design is spot on. The restaurant serves classic Southern dishes with a modern twist. This charming little cafe is located in the heart of Waco’s trendy Magnolia Silos district and offers a wide variety of coffee drinks and pastries. You can also purchase souvenirs from the gift shop attached to the cafe.
Common Grounds
Common Grounds is one of the most popular coffee shops in Waco and for good reason. The coffee is great, and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. The original coffee shop is near Baylor University, with others popping up around the city. A back room has been designated the Bear Den created for the ideal environment for students needing a quiet place to poke their laptops and cram for tests! Given its location, you will always find college students out here studying or just hanging with friends.

Dichotomy Coffee & Spirits
This coffee shop is not only known for its great coffee but also for its unique atmosphere and dining experience. The shop is located in an old cotton mill and has an industrial feel to it. The coffee here is some of the best in town and they have a delicious food menu. This spot is starting to become more of a co-working spot with tons of folks working out of here during the day, slowly transition from coffee to cocktails!

Milo’s All Day
Milo’s All Day is a great restaurant in Waco for food. They serve up all sorts of delicious dishes that are made from scratched and sourced locally. You will never go wrong ordering their famous chicken fried steak. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere and is perfect any time of day- breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Milo’s also has outdoor seating that lets you take in seasonal Texan comfort food under the warm sun.

Cafe Homestead
If you’re looking for a great cup of coffee to start your day or a brunch spot, Cafe Homestead is the place to go. They offer a variety of coffee and tea drinks, as well as breakfast pastries and sandwiches. The cafe is located in a traditional craft village in a sustainable, organic farming community, so you can be sure that you’re getting fresh, natural food. They’ve been serving up delicious food since 1994, so you know it must be good! While you’re there, be sure to take a tour of the farm and gardens, and enjoy a hayride to a scenic vista overlooking the Brazos River.
Magnolia Table
If you love food, then you need to put Magnolia Table on your list of places to visit. This restaurant is owned by Chip and Joanna Gaines, and it offers a great dining experience. The menu features southern-inspired dishes that are sure to please any palate, and the atmosphere is perfect for a casual meal with family or friends.
Whether you’re looking for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Magnolia Table has something to offer. For breakfast, try the biscuits and gravy or the chicken-fried steak. If you’re looking for a distinctive and tasty dining experience while in Waco, Texas, Magnolia Food Trucks is the place to be. This range of food trucks offers everything from tacos and pizza to ice cream, with something sure to please everyone. So whether you’re in the mood for some southern comfort food or something a little more exotic, Magnolia Food Trucks is the perfect spot to get your fix and get some takeout.
After hours of exploring the Magnolia Market, I was famished. I decided to head to one of the Magnolia Food Trucks for a bite to eat. I chose the Club Sandwich truck because it had really good reviews online. The food was incredible,! Naturally, I opted for one of their bowls doing half rice, half cabbage with chicken bulgogi. The spicy porked looked good too when folks next to me sat down to chow. The owner Youngdae was out in front of the truck and after seeing him I felt I made the right decision with my order.
- Cheddar Box will have grilled cheese sandwiches and mac and cheese along with many other American fare.
- Club Sandwich is an Asian Fusion truck so you can get an Asian rice fix here and a touch of Korean.
- 900 Degrees Pizzeria covers Italian.
- Summer Snow will cool you down during summer days. Luna Juice serves great seasonal juices. Captain Billy Whizzbangs specializes in cheeseburgers.
- Chucks Gourmet Popcorn is great to munch on while walking the grounds of Magnolia.
- Alabama Sweet Tea serves your drink in a Mason Dixon glass.
- Club Sandwich is an Asian Fusion truck so you can get an Asian rice fix here.
- Heart of Texas Dog House serves up gourmet American hot dogs.
- Waffle Chic is home to crispy chicken and waffles with an abundance of options.
- Saltgrass Steak House
If you’re looking for a delicious steak dinner in Waco, Texas, look no further than Saltgrass Steak House. The Waco Downtown Farmers Market takes up a city block every Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm. This is a great place to find fresh produce, baked goods, and local crafts. This market is year round but definitely slows down in the winter.

Di Campli’s Italian Ristorante
For a more modern upscale Italian restaurant pop over to Di Campli’s Italian Ristorante. This spot is a family run with Massimo Di Campli living out his dream with his wife Kristen and three children. I was very happy with my linguine with clams and calamari starter. My friend tried the lasagna but it was pretty hefty so I got a bite of this in the after-hours back in our hotel.

Jake’s Texas Tea House
As a retro diner, it’s themed as a gas station with Southern fare. The pork roast came with a couple of sides and I went for the mashed potatoes and gravy. While I was stuffed I saw the Key Lime Pie come out for another table. Save room for dessert.

Baris is a casual Italian eatery frequented for its traditional pastas and pizza. They’ve got a BYOB set-up and serve big dishes and are a popular spot for families visitng their children at Baylor. and are a great spot for plates & pizza in an easygoing, BYOB setup.
MOROSO Wood Fired Pizzeria
MOROSO Wood Fired Pizzeria in Waco, Texas is the perfect place to enjoy authentic Neapolitan wood-fired pizzas and other Italian dishes.
