Besan is a wonder food for weight loss. Besan or gram flour has always been the favorite of our moms and grandmoms. Be it a simple dahi kadhi or a chilla, besan has a separate dignity in Indian homes and is widely used in several recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
A storehouse of nutrients, this fine powder of protein rich grams has several easy-to-cook recipes. Besan contains fiber, iron, potassium, phosphorus, folate, thiamine, copper, zinc and several other nutrients.
Here are 5 easy to make besan recipes which are nutrient dense and filling.

Take two tablespoons of besan in a bowl (take a bigger bowl so that it will be easy for you to mix the ingredients while preparing the batter for the chilla). Add water to it. Whisk the besan and water mixture continuously and give it a flowy consistency. Add salt, pepper, ajwain, red chilli, vegetables of choice and seasonings of choice.
Set the batter aside for 5 minutes.
Heat a pan on medium flame, coat it with some butter or ghee or oil. Pour one ladle of the batter on to the pan and spread it as much as you want. Flip it over when one side is cooked. Cook both the sides for 5 mins. Eat it hot.
In a bowl take besan, salt, sugar, citric acid and turmeric. Add water to this mixture and bring it to a medium consistency.
Grease a steaming pan with little bit of oil.
Take baking powder in a small glass and water to it. Add the mixture to the besan batter and pour the batter into the steaming pan.
Steam the besan batter for 15 minutes and then bring it out.
Cut it into pieces and eat it when it has cooled down.
This can be a tasty twist to the regular toast.
In a bowl take besan, finely chopped onions, tomato, herbs and spices as per your choice. Mix water to this and make a batter of thin consistency. Make sure there are no lumps in the batter.
Cut the brown bread into two pieces and dip it inside the batter. Transfer it immediately to a hot pan and toast it with butter or oil. Eat it hot.
05/6Gatte ki sabji
Take besan in a bowl and add hing, turmeric, jeera, ajwain, dhania powder and salt to it. Add curd and oil to this mixture. Mix everything properly and then by slowly adding water knead it to a dough.
Boil water in a large pan and once the water starts boiling, roll the besan dough into thin sticks and dip them inside the boiling water so that they cook properly.
Once they are properly cooked, bring them out and dice them. Prepare your gravy with onions, ginger and garlic paste and spices. Once the gravy is ready add the cooked besan, also known as gatte, into the gravy and cook it for a while.
This is another super easy besan recipe.
Take besan and buttermilk in the ration 1:3. Add ginger and green chilli paste to the batter if you like the taste of raw spices, else you can skip adding these.
Transfer the batter to a pan and cook it till the batter gets thick. Stir the batter continuously.
Once the batter is thick, take a plate and grease it with ghee or oil. Spread the batter on the plate. Spread it all over the plate so that you make small thin rolls of it.
Allow it to cool and garnish it with coriander or coconut.
