Quinoa seeds are the edible portions of a flowering plant belonging to the amaranth family. The quinoa that is eaten mostly comprises dietary fibers, which makes it an ideal food source for those who intend to lose weight.
As per health journals, 100 grams of quinoa contains 120 calories, 4.4 grams of protein, 21 grams of carbohydrates, 2.8 grams of fiber and the rest fat and sugar.
More than 80% of the total fiber content in quinoa is insoluble fibers like cellulose.
Quinoa is easy to cook. When you are planning to lose weight, the ingredients that are being coupled with the main food item needs to be taken care of. No doubt, quinoa is a healthy alternative to the staple food that we regularly consume, but the way its cooked would direct the course of weight loss journey.
Here are 5 quinoa recipes that are healthy and easy to cook
Wash and roast the quinoa for a few minutes. Take one spoon of oil, add mustard seeds, then add onions and fry them till light brown. Add vegetables of your choice and fry them for 5-10 minutes. Add water to the vegetables and add washed quinoa to the boiling water. Cover everything for 10 minutes. Have it hot with chutney.

Cook the quinoa first and keep it aside. In another bowl take coriander leaves, olive oil, lemon juice and vinegar and mix them together. Add cooked quinoa, chopped and diced carrots, bell peppers, onions, cucumber, peanuts, to the bowl and mix everything till the mixture of lemon juice and oil coats every ingredient perfectly.
Rinse the quinoa and keep it aside. Take a pan, add some ghee or butter. Add chopped vegetables of your choice and saute them for a while. Add ginger and garlic paste to the oil and cook it till it leaves its raw aroma. Add the vegetables back to the roasted ginger and garlic paste. Add the rinsed quinoa to it. Add salt, turmeric, coriander and mint leaves to this and cover it for 10 minutes. After it's cooked, put a dollop of ghee from the top and serve it hot.
Rinse quinoa and cook it for a while. In a pan take oil, mustard seeds and add peanuts to it. Fry until the peanuts are roasted properly. To this add green chillies and hing. Add sliced onions if you want. Add the cooked quinoa to this and fry it for a while. Garnish it with lemon juice and coriander leaves.
This is super easy to make. Take one cup of quinoa, rinse it properly and cook it till it becomes super soft.
In a bowl take curd, and add grated carrot to it. Add salt, and coriander leaves to it. Add the cooked quinoa to this.
For tempering, take one spoon of oil in a pan and add mustard oil, jeera to it. Add cashews if you want. Add chopped ginger, curry leaves and hing to the oil. Transfer everything to the curd and mix it properly so that temper is absorbed into the mixture.
