Each year, some of the city’s top restaurants participate in a culinary extravaganza called “COOLinary.” For the month of August, diners can experience two- and three-course menus offered specifically for the COOLinary experience.

For this week’s editor’s picks, we’re highlighting some of the restaurants we’re excited to try this summer!

Alma Café

I just discovered Alma Cafe with a friend, and it was the BEST BREAKFAST OF MY LIFE! So simple, but so perfectly done! I get the passionfruit mojito with the Alma Breakfast – eggs, refried beans, sweet plantains, queso fresco, homemade crema and bacon. It just doesn’t get any better. Can’t wait to see what they offer for COOLinary.

Café Degas

Gabrielle Restaurant

Gianna

Gianna has always been a fan-favorite, but I haven’t been to Gianna with chef Jared Heider at the helm. I want to use COOLinary to get back to the restaurant and try some new menu items I haven’t had a chance to yet.

Saint John

I’m a huge fan of chef Eric Cook’s Lower Garden District restaurant Gris-Gris, but I haven’t had a chance to check out his latest spot, Saint John. I am excited to get his take on traditional Creole recipes.

SoBou

Three words: foie gras beignets. Also 75 cent martinis don’t hurt!
Note: it’s been a minute since I’ve been, they may not do these for COOLinary anymore, which would be a shame.
