Ever since last year, there has been a sharp 30 per cent rise in Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG), which is commonly used in Indian households for cooking purposes. Currently, a 14.2 kgs non-subsidized domestic cylinder is priced at INR 1,053 in Delhi. While in Kolkata, the cylinder will cost INR 1,079 and INR 1,052.50 in Mumbai & INR 1,068.50 in Chennai. Apparently, this is the eighth hike in the LPG prices by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) since last year and is putting a lot of stress on Indian households. You would be surprised to know this that a dish like pasta can be made in a kettle. To make this recipe, add 1-2 cubes of butter with 1/2 cup for washed sweet corns. Switch on the kettle and cook the sweet corn for 2-3 minutes until they become soft & tender. Once cooked, keep them aside in a small bowl. Next, add 1 1/2 cup macaroni pasta to the kettle with enough water. Drizzle a little oil in it along with 2 pinches of salt. Stir well and put the kettle on. Let the pasta boil for 3-4 minutes and once done, drain the extra water and keep the pasta aside. Now, take a mixing bowl and add boiled pasta in it along with buttered sweet corn and 1 cube of butter. Add chopped parsley in it along with 2-3 sliced cherry tomatoes. Sprinkle some oregano & chilli flakes over the pasta and grate some cheese on top. Gently mix and enjoy.

This is something that no one can imagine cooking in a kettle. Put a kettle on and add some butter to it. Next, add some asafoetida and cumin seeds in it along with 2 chopped green chillies. Then break 2-3 eggs in it and give a light stir using a fork or spoon. Quickly, add 2 chopped onions & tomatoes to the kettle and stir once again. The dish will be cooked in just 2-3 minutes.

To make kheer in a kettle, add 2 cups of milk along with some green cardamom powder. Stir once and let the milk boil. Once it is done, add boiled rice to it along with some chopped dry fruits and sugar. Stir everything well and transfer in a large utensil. Using a grinder, grind everything to make the kheer a little thicker.

Pulao is one of the most filling Indian meals that you can eat and is something that one can only make in a pressure cooker. However, it can be easily made in a kettle as well. All you need to do is soak basmati rice for 30 minutes in water and chop your favourite veggies. In a large kettle, add the soaked rice in the kettle along with all the chopped veggies in it along with salt, ginger, green chilli and coriander leaves and your favourite spices. Stir well and add enough water. Cook for about 15-20 minutes and your pulao will be ready. Once done, add some ghee over the top and enjoy.

Put the kettle on and add some oil in it, add mustard seeds in it & green chillies, and add some peanuts in it along with some salt, black pepper and chilli powder. Cook for a minute and then add washed poha in it along with a little water. Stir well and cook for 2-3 minutes. Close the kettle and let the poha soak.
