Here, find a curated list of the best food and drink events in Santa Cruz County for the coming week. At the top, I share my picks of unmissable local happenings.
The 15th annual Taste of Soquel, held at the Congregational Church of Soquel, returns this Saturday to raise funds for Second Harvest Food Bank with local food and libations, live music, a kids zone and raffle. Nearly 20 Soquel-based restaurants, wineries, breweries and farms, including Home restaurant, Soquel Vineyards and Jeff Walls’ Family Honey, offer tastings of their locally produced products. Complementary coffee, lemonade and light snacks will also be provided. Tickets are $30 for adults, $10 for children, for tasting and music.
Prost! Celebrate Oktoberfest at Santa Cruz Elks Lodge on Saturday with traditional German food, craft beer by Soquel’s Discretion Brewing and live music by Alpine Sound. Lederhosen and dirndls are encouraged. Kids activities and indoor and outdoor seating are available. All event proceeds support the California-Hawaii Elks Major Project, Inc., which provides free therapy for children with disabilities.
