Glastonbury has a new spot to get its greens. Chopt is opening a new restaurant in town, the first location of the salad chain to debut in Hartford County.
The new eatery, which specializes in creative salads, officially opens Wednesday at 2520 Main Street. The menu offers both predesigned salads and bowls with warm grains or cauliflower rice, loaded with vegetables, proteins, legumes, nuts, seeds and a variety of dressings.
To keep with its opening tradition, Chopt celebrates "Chopt Gives Day" on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 7:30 p.m., where 100 percent of sales will be donated to Horizons at Westminster, a branch of Horizons National. The dedicated donation day will coincide with orders placed via Chopt App or Chopt's website.
Diners can choose from Chopt's signature salads and bowls with Asian, southwestern and Mediterranean flavors, and Chopt offers seasonal and limited-time menus, like its recent Destination California specials: a "spicy Sonoma" Caesar with chipotle chicken and avocado, a verde pork pozole bowl and a vegan umami noodle bowl with assorted vegetables and creamy yuzu dressing.
Guests can also craft their own salads, with choice of greens, fruits, vegetables, cheese, eggs, grains and beans, and "crunch" toppings like croutons, pita chips, crispy wontons and parmesan quinoa crisps. Proteins include chicken options, smoked bacon, wild-caught shrimp, chickpea falafel and organic tofu.
Chopt has locations in 10 states and Washington D.C. Its first Connecticut restaurant opened in Greenwich's Riverside Commons in 2015, followed by a Stamford outpost in September.
Another Chopt is planned for West Hartford's Bishops Corner shopping center at 333 N. Main St., but a company representative didn't have information on its exact opening date.
Other fast-casual salad and bowl restaurants in Connecticut include Sweetgreen and CAVA, each with a location in Greenwich.
