Celebrate a World of Flavor with National Nutrition Month
“Everyone’s approach to nutrition and health is different and that’s the spice of life,” said Aspirus Clinical Dietician Hannah L. Walker, RDN, CD. “We are all unique with different bodies, goals, backgrounds, and tastes. And that’s why we’re here to help tailor a healthful eating plan that is as special as you are.”
During National Nutrition Month, people of all ages are encouraged to make informed food choices and develop sound eating and physical activity habits to follow all year long. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics encourages Americans to:
Eat a variety of nutritious foods: Include healthy food from all food groups and incorporate your favorite cultural food and traditions.
See a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN): Find an RDN or ask your doctor for a referral to receive personal nutrition information to meet your health goals
Plan your meals and snacks: Shop for nutritious foods and choose recipes to make healthy choices at home and away.
Create tasty foods at home: Learn cooking/meal preparation skills and try new flavors and foods from around the world to enjoy with friends and family.
RDNs help communities fine-tune traditional recipes, provide healthy alternative cooking methods, and offer healthful advice for incorporating family-favorite foods into everyday meals. This year, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics celebrates Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day on Wednesday, March 9.
RDNs are the nation's food and nutrition experts. They are committed to improving the health and wellness of their patients, clients, and communities each day. Learn more about nutrition counseling on the Aspirus website.
