On Worst Cooks In America Celebrity Edition: That's So 90's, chef Anne Burrell mentored her Rockin' Red Stars team, teaching them how to cook some delicious recipes. Her team consisted of 90s stars Elisa Donovan from Clueless, Tracey Gold from Growing Pains, Mark Long from Road Rules, and Nicholle Tom from The Nanny. Anne and her team went head-to-head, with first-time mentor chef Jeff Mauro's Blue Team, featuring Lori Beth Denberg from All That, Jennie Kwan from California Dreams, Matthew Lawrence from Mrs. Doubtfire, Jodie Sweetin from Full House, and Curtis Williams from The Parent ‘Hood.
Each week, the Worst Cooks celebrity recruits attended culinary boot camp, in which they were taught how to cook various meals, some of which had 90s themes. Although each week's food shared the same themes, Anne and Jeff taught their teams how to make different recipes. As the contestants learned how to follow the recipes and use kitchen tools correctly, their cooking improved. Each episode featured a pre-heat challenge, during which the contestants played games and cooked, and a main dish challenge. In the end, Anne chose Tracey to battle it out with Jodie from Jeff's Worst Cooks team in the finale. They cooked a restaurant-quality three-course meal for the guest judges Ilan Hall, Nilou Motamed, and Ayesha Nurdjaja. Tracey won the competition, taking home the $25,000 prize for her charity, the Surfrider Foundation.
Fans of Worst Cooks enjoy watching the funny mistakes and zany antics that occur in the kitchen, but the show is also surprisingly inspiring. As Anne taught her team how to cook and bake various dishes in the main dish challenges, they really did improve their skills. They went home to their families with the ability to cook them great meals. As the show comes to an end, here are all of Anne's recipes.
Episode 1 - Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy, Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Peas, Carrots and Peppers
For the first Worst Cooks In America main dish challenge of the season, the recruits were asked to replicate elevated versions of classic TV dinners that were popular in the 90s. The Red Team recruit who won this challenge was Mark, who celebrated by lifting Anne off of the ground with a big bear hug. The full recipe can be found at the Food Network website.
Episode 2 - Steak Oscar with King Crab, Hollandaise Sauce and Sautéed Asparagus
During episode 2, Anne and Jeff taught their teams how to make the classic and elegant Steak Oscar, a French dish from the late 1890s, for the main dish challenge. According to Jeff, the original dish consisted of a filet topped with lump crab meat, covered in an emulsified butter sauce, with a side of asparagus. The recruit from the Worst Cooks Red Team who best replicated Anne's Steak Oscar dish was Elisa, who joked about hugging Anne in celebration. This happened after she accidentally pulled her down to the floor in an attempt to mimic Mark's hug during the previous week. Click on this Food Network link for the full recipe.
Episode 3 - Pork Holstein Schnitzel with Austrian Potato Salad and Pickled Cucumbers
For episode 3, the Worst Cooks boot camp was transformed into WC Peaks, a winter chalet. For the main dish challenge, Anne and Jeff demonstrated how to make classic European schnitzel with potato sides. Anne explained that schnitzel is traditionally a very thin, breaded and fried piece of veal, but her recipe used pork instead. The recruits had to put their own spin on the potato sides. Anne made Jeff cringe in fear as she demanded that her recruits use a mandoline to slice their cucumbers. Fortunately, all of the Worst Cooks recruits made it out of the challenge with all of their fingers intact. The winning Red Team member was once again Mark, who spun Anne around in another bear hug. The full recipe can be found at this Food Network link.
Episode 4 - Coconut Red Curry with Sautéed Bok Choy and Jasmine Coconut Rice
In the episode 4 main dish challenge, the Worst Cooks celebrities learned how to make seafood curry dishes. The recruits were horrified when they discovered that they had to filet a whole fish. The celebrities had to use vegetables and flavorings of their choice. Anne thought that Elisa made the best curry, and declared her the winner for the second time. Episode 5 - Peach and Blueberry Pastry Pocket with Vanilla Glaze and Candied Almonds
The Worst Cooks mentors sweetened things in episode 5, with a main dish challenge that required them to make fruit-filled pastry pockets. The recruits learned how to make dough from scratch. They completed the pastry pockets with their choice of fillings, glazes, and nuts. Tracey won the challenge with her apricot and blackberry pastry pocket. Anne's full recipe can be found at this Food Network link.
Episode 6 - Agnolotti with Sausage and Ricotta Filling and Burst Cherry Tomato & Pancetta Sauce
For episode 6, the recruits were asked to complete the "im-pasta-ble" mission of making fresh pasta and sauce from scratch. According to Anne, agnolotti is basically ravioli, but instead of being two pieces of pasta stuck together, it is stuffed and folded over. The Worst Cooks recruits had to recreate the pasta recipe, but put their own flavor spin on the agnolotti and a sauce. Although Anne said that all of the remaining recruits, Tracey, Elisa, and Mark, were successful, and it was a difficult decision, she declared Elisa the winner of her third Worst Cooks challenge. Episode 7 - Finale Three-Course Meal
Anne brought Tracey with her to the finale. They worked together to create a restaurant-quality three-course meal. Although they planned the menu together during the competition, Tracey had to cook the whole meal by herself. Anne was only allowed to coach her, but could not touch or taste anything. The first course featured fried green tomatoes with burst cherry tomatoes, pancetta and lobster. Course two included seared lamb chops with roasted radishes and haricots verts, black olives, pine nuts, fennel, and scalloped potato cake with goat cheese and dill. Tracey completed her Worst Cooks meal with a third course dessert of gooseberry and blueberry custard crostata with brown sugar caramel sauce. After competing against Jodie, Tracey won Worst Cooks In America: Celebrity Edition. The winning recipes can be found here: first course (via Food Network), second course (via Food Network), and third course (via Food Network).
With Worst Cooks In America Celebrity Edition: That's So 90's, Anne brought home her fourth win for the celebrity edition. Her recipes taught the recruits important skills that helped them become better cooks. She has proven over the years that she is able to teach people who are challenged in the kitchen to improve their culinary skills. As Anne's recruits completed the show, they were no longer the worst cooks in the nation.
